When we first explored the story behind Silversea’s first hotel, The Cormorant at 55 South, Conrad Combrink, senior vice president, expeditions, described a bold ambition: to make the journey to Antarctica as meaningful as the destination itself.

Now, the next chapter unfolds.

“We needed to create a hotel that would be completely different in design, in standards and experiences than what is available in the region,” Combrink says.

What will it feel like to stay in Puerto Williams — the southernmost city in the world — before and after your Antarctica Fly Cruise voyage? Silversea revealed the first design details of The Cormorant at 55 South’s interior spaces, and they offer a compelling glimpse into a stay shaped as much by place as by purpose.

One point Combrink emphasizes is that this property will not simply be an extension of a Silversea ship. And yet, there is a philosophical throughline. Like Silver Origin, Silver Nova, and Silver Ray, the hotel embraces Silversea’s design ethos: a reverence for connection to the destination, light, and spatial generosity.
